Mole Avon Country Stores celebrate 50 years

Mole Avon Country Stores choose Sandy Park to host a celebration of their 50 years of trading.

More than 100 employees and guests converged on the Estuary Suite at the Exeter conferencing and banqueting venue.

They enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a five-course dinner, including canapes, and an awards ceremony.

Mole Avon Trading Ltd began trading in Crediton in 1973, where the business still has the largest country store in the South West.

A sub depot was established in Okehampton in 1975 followed by Axminster in 1978 and the purpose built "Focused on Farming" Whitstone store near Holsworthy in 2019.

Former Chiefs player Chris Bentley hosted the 50-year celebratory event, which included an opening welcome speech from Mole Avon Country Stores’ chairman John Lee OBE followed by awards to recognise the best staff from each branch among other honours handed out over the course of the evening.

Sophie Davey, from Mole Avon Country Stores, said: “It was a pleasure to work with the Sandy Park team. Everything on the night went so smoothly, we didn’t need to worry about anything. We have had nothing but compliments about the venue and food on the night.”
