Sandy Park hosted the Lord’s Taverners’ annual Christmas event in Exeter to raise money for cricket programmes that aim to empower and positively impact the lives of young people facing the challenges of inequality.

Hosted by legendary ex-England spin bowler and broadcast personality Phil Tufnell, more than 600 guests sat down to a three-course lunch to see in the festive season.

This has been a regular fixture in the Sandy Park schedule throughout the last decade with the Exeter Suite providing the perfect venue for this annual event due to its generous capacity complemented by the expertise of the Sandy Park chef and staff in serving up delicious food to such a large number of people.

Andrew Perkins, one of the event organisers for Lord’s Taverners, said: “We have relied on Sandy Park for many years now to provide us with the venue for our annual Christmas event. Our guests love coming to Sandy Park, it’s conveniently located, and the staff are very professional. They know how to put on an event of this scale. We’ll be back!”

Lord’s Taverners is a community of people and organisations that collaborate to provide innovative, inclusive, and impactful cricket programmes, empowering young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities to develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities, and confidence required to overcome the challenges of inequality, raise their aspirations and reach their potential.

Driven by a passion for equality, Lord’s Taverners strives to be a lead organisation at the heart of social change by using its knowledge, experience and insight gained through its work with young people and their communities experiencing inequality to become a credible, expert voice and influencer that shapes attitudes and unites communities.
