Prestigious Dinner returns to Sandy Park

A prestigious awards ceremony which honours achievements in the insurance industry will be celebrating its eighth year at Sandy Park this Friday.

The Insurance Institute of Exeter Annual Dinner, which is sponsored by Browne Jacobson Solicitors, is a gathering of insurers, brokers, financial planners, loss adjusters and other companies who may have a connection or representation within the insurance industry in the South West, to recognise the achievements of members of the Institute.

Nigel Hook, Secretary of the Insurance Institute of Exeter said: “We always look forward to returning to Sandy Park; the dinners are always a wonderful occasion with top-quality food and service.”

The Annual Dinner is the Institute’s opportunity to present certificates for those members who have achieved a significant qualification, such as the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) and also to recognise outstanding results in other areas, such as professional examinations and excelling within their role.

Individual awards the Porter Prize and David Grimley award for the Young Professional of the Year will also be presented on the evening. The Porter Prize, which recognises hard work and outstanding results by a young person, is sponsored by Sylvia Jane, Education Secretary of the Exeter CII Council, in memory of Leslie Porter, her father who was formerly of Prudential Assurance.

Browne Jacobson also sponsors the David Grimley award for Young Professional of the Year. This is presented in honour of David Grimley, a claims professional formerly of St Paul Insurance.

The dinner will also be a celebration of the tenure of incumbent President, Helen Jones, who will be stepping down after two years in the role and being replaced by Mark Fowles, a Partner at Browne Jacobson.

Director of Helen’s employers, Pavey Group, Geoff Gale said: “Pavey Group are incredibly proud of Helen, who works within the business as a very successful Senior Commercial Account Manager. Throughout her two years as President of the Insurance Institute of Exeter, Helen has raised a significant sum for local charity Rainbow Living, providing supported living accommodation in Devon for people with disabilities, particularly learning disabilities.”
